Spray Tan Preparation + Aftercare

💚 SPRAY TAN PREP 💚

• Have clean (ideally exfoliated) skin

• No moisturiser, products or deodorant on skin (light baby powder under arms is usually ok)

• Wear loose clothing and slip on sandals/thongs for after tan

• Recommend having towel to put on car seat after tan

• MOBILE ONLY: Clear space in shower and make sure space is dry (no dripping shower). Water will ruin the tan. Put down towel or mat on shower floor to prevent you getting tan on soles of feet *** IMPORTANT: I have a mould allergy, so if your bathroom has mould, please advise in advance and we will need to make alternative plan, ie. spray in a fairly protected back courtyard ***

AFTER TAN CARE

• Wear loose clothes or robe

• Don’t get wet until ready to wash off

• Shower and wash off with water only. I will give you time period to leave on for (usually 1-3 hours)

• Pat dry skin and put on clothes as usual

• Ideally avoid moisturiser or makeup for 12 hours

• Tan colour usually take 24 hours to fully develop even though they have been washed off after a few hours

• To maintain tan, do not scrub or exfoliate skin

• Chlorine, baths, sweating and soaking skin will make tan come off faster

• Moisturising daily will help prolong tan

• Depending on skin type and weather (eg heat pr humidity), tans usually last 5-7 days. They look best with first 3 days

• When you’re ready to remove and/or get a new tan, exfoliate skin and/or use a tan removal glove

1. Does sunless tanning protect me against the sun?
   No, it does not and when out doors users of spray tans or any fake tans should wear a strong sun screen.

2. Is sunless tanning safe? 
   Yes, it is! The FDA approved Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a sugar cane derivative that results in the tan, for safety in 1973. When applied to the skin, DHA penetrates only the top layer of skin-it does not absorb into the body or bloodstream.

3. Do your sunless tanning products contain erythrulose? 
   No. First, the only FDA-approved ingredient for sunless tanning is DHA. No other skin colorants, including erythrulose, have been approved as yet. Second, our comparative tests repeatedly demonstrate that erythrulose provides no significant difference in the tan’s application or performance.

4. Do your sunless tanning products contain alcohol?
   No. Alcohol is very drying to the skin and can cause irritation. Furthermore, alcohol intensifies degradation of DHA and thus shortens the shelf life of the product.

5. Do your sunless tanning products contain aloe vera?

10. I always burn in the sun and never tan. Can I still get a sunless tan? 
    Absolutely! If you are someone with skin type I who always burns in the sun and therefore has never been able to tan, you can achieve a sunless tan. With Aviva Labs, it will look terrific.
